Tia Warbrick

    A systems thinker and results-focused leader driving connectedness across government, and strengthening how agencies collect, share, and use data.

    Tia is the Deputy Chief Executive of Strategic Engagement, Māori Partnerships and Data Capability at Stats NZ where she leads work to transform how the agency engages with Māori and the wider public. She built the Māori partnerships and strategic engagement functions from the ground up, embedding genuine inclusion at the heart of Stats NZ’s role in stewarding data with integrity to deliver meaningful outcomes for whānau, hapū, iwi and communities across Aotearoa. A systems thinker and results-focused leader, Tia also drives connectedness across government, strengthening how agencies collect, share, and use data.

    She is a graduate of the ANZSOG Deputies Leadership Programme, the Executive Fellows Program, and has previously attended the First Nations Conference.

    A career public servant committed to making positive change through service, Tia has held roles at Te Arawhiti (Māori Crown Relations), Te Puni Kōkiri (Ministry for Māori Development), the Waitangi Tribunal and the State Services Commission, bringing deep experience in Māori–Crown relations, capability building and shared system stewardship. Beyond the public service, she has held governance roles with a post-settlement governance entity for one of her iwi, and currently serves on the Chiropractic Board and Wellington Uni-Professional, a subsidiary of Victoria University of Wellington.

    Grounded, collaborative, and future-focused, Tia champions data and decision-making that reflect the voices, values, and aspirations of Māori and all communities.
