Leading withDiverse Voices

Elevating First Nations and Māori leadership and perspectives in public governance and services.

Committed to Inclusion

Embedding First Nations knowledge in leadership, learning and governance.

We are dedicated to shaping a future where public governance is trusted, inclusive, and effective. Central to this vision is our deep respect and commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of Australia and Māori of Aotearoa New Zealand. As a binational learning institution, we understand that genuine public sector reform requires sustained action, humility, and a shared willingness to learn and grow together.

We strive to build governance that earns and maintains the trust of the communities we serve. This means addressing inequalities, embracing diverse cultures and capabilities, and creating systems that reflect and respect First Nations and Māori voices. Our strength as a partner lies in our authenticity and our ongoing learning journey — a commitment we uphold as an organisation and as individuals.

Leadership in Action

Partnering with First Nations and Māori leaders to embed cultural respect and strengthen public governance.

ANZSOG is committed to creating positive outcomes with and for First Nations peoples and Māori. Our priorities include:

  • championing better outcomes through culturally informed policies;

  • embedding cultural safety and inclusion across all programs;

  • amplifying leadership and representation in governance; and

  • building capability through co-design and collaboration with Elders and knowledge holders.

These priorities reflect our promise to walk alongside First Nations peoples and Māori, learning from their wisdom and working together to create a just, inclusive, and effective public sector.

Shaping First Nations leadership

Programs designed to amplify First Nations voices and shape government.

First Nations knowledge and perspective

Building trust through respectful collaboration, cultural safety, and shared learning.

Grounded in reciprocity, responsibility, and respect, ANZSOG seeks genuine partnership and shared learning. We are committed to amplifying First Nations and Māori voices, embedding cultural safety across all environments, and modelling the mindsets and skills needed for enduring change.

Our progress is guided by clear accountability frameworks, regular reviews, and ongoing consultation with communities. By honouring the leadership and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and Māori, ANZSOG walks alongside and in service of that leadership — fostering trust, belonging, and inclusive governance.

One of the most powerful shifts I experienced was moving away from looking for a single solution  towards conversations, complexities and the potential for many different responses.
