Mathew Healey is the Deputy Secretary of Strategy and Delivery, leading the Premier’s Implementation and Delivery Group of the Department of Premier and Cabinet. As part of recently proposed Machinery of Government changes, his role will transition to focus on Economic Development, with responsibility for Energy, Resources and Industry Strategy.
Mathew has over 25 years' experience in the public service at both the State and Commonwealth levels, working across a range of agencies, including the Departments of Health and Human Services, Communities Tasmania and the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
Over his career, Mathew has led a large range of reform programs including the creation of a statewide tertiary health service, the redesign of the Child Protection System and the Review of the Tasmania State Service. Most recently, Mathew was a member of the Local Government Board that delivered the report on the future of Local Government in Tasmania.
Mathew's career has included a strong focus on increasing accountability for the delivery of public value and for improving the wellbeing, sustainability and resilience of our communities.
