Manaia Paki King – Ngāti Hauā, Ngāti Koroki Kahukura

    Senior executive with deep experience in leadership and government systems

    Manaia is Deputy Secretary, Corporate, at Te Puni Kōkiri, Ministry of Māori Development.

    Manaia has been in the public service for over 20 years and has worked in policy, service delivery, operations, corporate and community and partner engagement.

    Manaia was recently seconded to the Minister for Māori Developments office as the Lead Private Secretary for Māori Development, Whānau ora and Māori Crown Relations.

    Prior to Te Puni Kōkiri, Manaia was the General Manager, Māori, Partnerships and Programmes at the Ministry of Social Development.  Whilst at MSD, Manaia was also seconded as a Private Secretary in the office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Social Development and Employment.  Prior to this, Manaia spent 10 years with the Ministry of Health in public health and chronic disease prevention.

    Manaia has a Bachelor of Laws, Master of Laws, a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health and an Executive Masters in Public Administration.  Manaia is a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand and a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.
