Overview
The System Leaders Dialogue - Wellington brings together senior public sector leaders for an invitation-only conversation on one of the defining leadership challenges of our time: how governments transform while continuing to deliver.
Hosted by ANZSOG, the Dialogue will explore how public institutions can adapt, innovate and renew amid fiscal constraint, technological change, increasing complexity and evolving public expectations.
Through panel discussion, facilitated dialogue and peer exchange, participants will examine what transformation means in practice and the leadership approaches required to steward institutions through periods of uncertainty and change.
Why This Dialogue
Public sector leaders are increasingly being asked to transform how government operates while maintaining performance, capability and public trust. At the same time, agencies face growing pressures relating to productivity, digital transformation, workforce capability, cross-agency collaboration and rising community expectations.
These challenges create a fundamental leadership question:
How do public institutions renew, adapt and innovate while under pressure, rather than waiting for conditions to stabilise?
The Dialogue provides an opportunity for leaders to step back from immediate operational demands and engage in a broader conversation about the future of public institutions, system stewardship and transformation in practice.
What To Expect
Designed as a highly interactive leadership dialogue, the session combines insights from senior public sector leaders with facilitated discussion among participants. Following a panel conversation, attendees will engage in roundtable discussions, share emerging insights and collectively explore the opportunities and tensions associated with leading transformation in complex public systems.
Who Should Attend
Invitations will be extended to current and emerging public sector leaders, including Chief Executives, Crown Entity leaders, Deputy Chief Executives and senior executives leading significant organisational and system transformation initiatives.
