Professor Malcolm Sparrow will provide the Conference Keynote Address. With over 20 years’ experience of working with and inspiring members of NRCoP, Professor Sparrow will take this opportunity to look ahead and examine how we can prepare ourselves for the challenges facing regulators in the next 5-10 years.

Conference sessions, led by regulatory practitioners and academics, include:

  • Regulatory failure and remediation
  • The role of investigative journalism in shaping regulatory reform
  • Frank and fearless advice for regulators wishing to work with Indigenous communities
  • Putting the ‘public’ and the ‘value’ back into public value regulation
  • Exploring ‘near misses’: Reflecting on past behaviours as a way of improving regulatory practice
  • Regulating behind closed doors: Making the invisible visible
  • Regulatory levers and tools.

The program will provide a mix of inspirational speakers and interactive activities, providing you with a range of opportunities to hear new ideas, contribute views and network with your regulatory peers.

The Conference Dinner (optional) will be held on the evening of Thursday 21 September 2023 from 7pm to 10pm.
