Overview
The Systems Leaders Dialogue — Perth convenes senior public sector leaders for a high‑trust, invitation‑only conversation on how governments can act decisively under uncertainty while sustaining public trust, legitimacy and accountability.
Rather than a traditional speaker‑led event, the Dialogue is designed as a curated peer conversation. The value of the session sits in the collective intelligence of the room: leaders from across portfolios and jurisdictions reflecting together on shared system‑level dilemmas and how they navigate risk, scrutiny and cooperation in practice.
Why This Dialogue?
The Systems Leaders Dialogue Series is ANZSOG’s flagship forum for convening senior leaders to engage in practical, reflective conversation about governing under complexity.
Periods of heightened uncertainty — fiscal pressure, political volatility, public scrutiny and cross‑cutting crises — often trigger understandable responses: tighter control, increased process, and risk aversion. While these responses may protect short‑term accountability, they can also reduce adaptability and inhibit the cooperation required to address complex system challenges.
The Perth Dialogue provides a space for senior leaders to:
step out of day‑to‑day operational pressures
reflect on their stewardship role at a system level
test assumptions with peers who carry comparable responsibility
The emphasis is on sense‑making rather than solutions, and on surfacing insights that participants can take back into their leadership practice.
Who Should Attend?
This Dialogue is designed for:
Secretaries, Directors-General and agency heads
Deputy-level leaders with enterprise wide or system level responsibilities
Equivalent senior system leaders
Attendance is by invitation. Senior leaders wishing to express interest in attending are invited to complete an expression of interest.
