Professor with extensive experience in public sector leadership and policy
Prof. Karen Hussey is the full-time chair of the Emissions Reduction Assurance Committee (ERAC), an independent statutory committee with responsibility for ensuring the integrity of the ‘methods’ in the Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) Scheme. Before taking on the ERAC role, Karen was Deputy Director General in the Queensland Government Department of Environment and Science, with responsibility for policy, strategy and legislation relating to the environment and biodiversity, climate change, waste and recycling, and heritage in the built environment. A political scientist and economist by training, Karen was an academic for the first 15 years of her career, first at the Australian National University and later at the University of Queensland. Karen holds an Honorary Professorship at the Centre for Policy Futures at the University of Queensland.
