Dr Tracey Dodd

Dr Tracey Dodd GAICD, MSPPM brings a combination of frontline public sector delivery experience, statutory governance leadership, and academic expertise to ANZSOG. She began her career inside government, where she spent more than a decade delivering complex, high-value reform programs across South Australian and Commonwealth agencies. For example, as a graduate and project officer with the Commonwealth in 2003, she led early reforms within the Howard government, co-ordinating a joined-up approach to the first wave of e-service delivery across the Australian Tax Office, Centrelink, and Medicare. Following this she moved to the private sector, supporting national public sector reforms across land services and the energy market as a Senior Adviser with KPMG.

With a passion for policy, Tracey returned to the public service at a state level, holding senior positions with the South Australian Government, including as a Senior Policy Adviser in the Cabinet Office of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, where she led negotiations with the Commonwealth on national agreements under the Rudd/Rann Governments worth over $400 million. She also supported the Rann Government to establish the Cabinet Implementation Unit in 2008.

Tracey's expertise spans the governance of environmental and social issues. For example, in 2009–2013 as State Manager of Aboriginal Employment and Training Programs, she designed and delivered the Governors Aboriginal Employment Industry Cluster Initiative, a cross-sector program that facilitated employment for over 600 Aboriginal South Australians, underpinned by $2.6 million in state and Commonwealth funding, and earned a state government innovation award.

Since moving into academia, Tracey has built an applied research and teaching portfolio in project management and governance. She has led the University of Adelaide's project management program through Global Accreditation Centre status with the Project Management Institute, scaled its flagship project management course from 25 to over 600 students, and co-authored a project management textbook used by undergraduates and practitioners alike. Her current academic leadership in governance includes roles as Adjunct Associate Professor at the Governance Institute of Australia, Visting Professor, ISC Business School Paris, and National Facilitator for the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD)'s Climate Governance for Australian Directors and University Governance programs.

Tracey also serves in several national governance roles. She is the longest-serving board member of Green Industries South Australia (2018–current), where she chairs the Governance Committee; a member of the government-owned Powerlink Queensland Customer Panel (2026–current); and Non-Executive Director, Australian Dance Theatre (2024–current). She has also served as a Non-Executive Director of the Australian Maths Trust and has advised the Victorian Government's Energy Advisory Board.

She holds a PhD from the University of South Australia and a Master of Science in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz School, alongside a Six Sigma Black Belt and a Diploma of Project Management. Her research on stakeholder management, governance, and the energy transition has informed government policy, including a New Zealand wholesale electricity market review, and she is a sought-after speaker and trainer for senior public and private sector leaders across Australia.

Through Leading Strategic Projects, she brings public servants the practical judgement of someone who has led major projects from inside Cabinet, governed them from the boardroom, and now researches and teaches what makes them succeed.
