Overview
As NRCoP members know only too well, the working life of regulators frequently involves varied and often contradictory pressures, high (possibly unachievable) public expectations, a need to maintain effective relationships with their duty holders, and too little or too much or too changeable guidance from their authorising environment.
And yet we all aspire to be excellent at what we do. What makes for an excellent regulator?
Professor Cary Coglianese has worked with regulators around the world to define what ‘excellence’ means in the context of regulatory work and to assist regulators to achieve it, most importantly in delivering public value to their fellow citizens.
