Dr S. Kate Conroy (née Devitt) is a leading global expert in ethical, responsible and safe
AI and trusted autonomous systems in military and civilian domains and national expert
in AI assurance in government. Kate currently works in AI Safety and Assurance in Data
and Digital Government, Queensland Government and is a Specialist Capability ONicer
(Lead Responsible AI) Royal Australian Air Force. She has a PhD in philosophy
(epistemology, cognitive science and applied ethics) and graduate certificate in
cognitive science, Rutgers University NJ USA and a BA (Hons) History & Philosophy of
Science, Melbourne University (philosophy and psychology of statistics). She is Adjunct
Professor Queensland University of Technology and Adjunct Associate Professor
University of Queensland. She is one of ‘100 Brilliant Women AI Ethics 2023′ and ’50
Women in Robotics You Need to Know About 2021’.
