With over 13 years at the Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National University, he has shaped the leadership skills of thousands of public sector managers through postgraduate teaching and executive education programs.
As co-founder of the not-for-profit ProSocial World, Dr. Atkins has implemented innovative strategies to enhance cooperation and trust in mission-driven groups globally. His work has improved group effectiveness in diverse contexts, from slowing the spread of Ebola in Sierra Leone to enhancing cooperation between United Nations organisations and improving performance in the Australian government.
A social and organisational psychologist, Dr Atkins’ research focuses on interventions that reduce stress while enhancing relationships, well-being, and cooperation in organisations. He is the lead author of the best-selling book “Prosocial: Using Evolutionary Science to Build Productive, Equitable, and Collaborative Groups.”
Dr. Atkins is Fellow of the international Association for Contextual Behavioural Science, a board member of the World Happiness Foundation and past President of the ANZ Association for Contextual Behavioural Science.
