Bonnie is Co-founder and Chief Strategy & Impact Officer of Place Intelligence, a big data analytics startup that leverages massive datasets and machine learning tools to deliver advanced insights about people and places. Place Intelligence works globally with government agencies, design, engineering, and professional services firms, global brands, and disaster recovery groups to deliver deep intelligence about how people use places over time to inform strategic policy, design and engineering, and evidence based decision making. Place Intelligence was awarded the prestigious YBF startup of the year award in 2021. Trained as a landscape architect and urban designer, Bonnie designed a popular game early in her career, which resulted in fellowships at the Institute for Contemporary Arts in London, and the Senseable Cities Lab at MIT. She has worked at the forefront of advanced technology development and innovation, strategic change management and community engagement with a diverse portfolio of private and public sector partners and clients, non-profits and community groups. Bonnie has helped to establish and lead several corporate, government, and non-profit innovation labs, delivered the first hackathon at the (Obama) Whitehouse, led the digital and community team at the Foundation for Young Australians, and held executive roles in several technology startups. At the City of Melbourne, Bonnie helped to establish and lead Australia’s first (and multi-award winning) Smart Cities team where she was responsible for strategic policy and delivery for smart city strategy, urban technologies, startups, the Melbourne Innovation District partnership, and knowledge programs (including the Melbourne Knowledge Week Festival). She was appointed to adjunct professor roles at both Georgetown University (Washington DC) and Melbourne Business School (Melbourne VIC), and was a 2021 finalist in the prestigious Australian and New Zealand Women in AI Awards. This diverse cross sector experience has honed a set of complimentary skills spanning technology driven innovation, leadership through change, data driven decision making, stakeholder management and community engagement. Bonnie is trained as a Human Potential Coach, bringing data driven approaches to bio-hacking for stress management and performance enhancement to all her work.
