As 2025 draws to a close, I want to thank the public services of Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand for their tireless work serving the public, each and every day.

Public sector work is challenging: budget pressures, technological change, complex policy and security environments and the human realities that come with leading teams and serving communities.

As I have travelled across our jurisdictions, I have been struck by the resilience and commitment of our public servants. Their work is often unnoticed, yet it enables our citizens and societies to flourish and in times of crisis or emergency, it is their care and support on which we all depend.

I have sought to capture my appreciation and admiration for our public servants in this short video.

Looking ahead for ANZSOG, we’re energised by what’s next.

In 2026 we will launch a refreshed, expanded portfolio of learning programs and deepen our alumni and faculty collaboration – supported by new digital capabilities – to make learning and development more accessible, flexible and impactful across career stages.

Our aim is simple: to support members of our public services better, so that they can lead with confidence, curiosity and courage in a changing world.

wish all public servants a safe and happy break with loved ones, and a productive and fulfilling 2026.
