Overview
Building on the concepts introduced during the NRCoP conference breakout session on managing change within regulatory agencies, this panel will shift the focus from high-level strategy to on-the-ground implementation, delving deeper into the practical and operational aspects of successful change management.
Featuring participants from the original conference breakout session, the discussion will explore how officers and managers can actively contribute to driving and sustaining change within their organisations. Key themes such as the “how” and “why” of change will be revisited from the breakout panel discussion and will be further explored and expanded.

Post Event Summary
Written by Matt Larney, NRCoP Queensland Chapter Committee member.
On 20 October, the NRCoP QLD Chapter hosted the national event Managing Change in Regulators – The How and the Why, with around 40 regulators attending in-person at Brisbane’s Old Town Hall and over 200 joining online. Building on themes from the National Conference breakout session, the panel—comprising experienced regulators—discussed the importance of communicating the “why” behind change, supporting teams through change fatigue, and applying evidence-based, problem-solving approaches to lead change effectively.
