Beyond the Pyramid: Developing compliance and enforcement policies that break the mould

VIC Chapter Local In-person Event

Price

Free

Location

Level 5, 664 Collins Street, Docklands

Duration

4:00pm to 5:15pm

Dates

24 July 2025

Overview

It has been 33 years since Ayers and Braithwaite proposed the ‘responsive regulation’ pyramid that took the regulatory world by storm. In that time, Australian regulators have grown in number, sophistication and remit. New investigation, compliance and enforcement powers have been created that are often without precedent – and given to regulators who must learn as they go along how best to use them. Community and government demand for more, and more significant, enforcement outcomes seems to increase each year.

Join us for informal discussion and Q+A on how your regulatory peers have adapted to these contemporary challenges, moving away from the classic pyramid policy of the early 1990s to develop new ways of approaching compliance and enforcement.

This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow regulators in your region. We warmly welcome professionals from all levels of government to join us.

Following the panel discussion, join the Victorian Chapter for a social networking drink at a casual venue (drinks available for purchase).

**Participation in NRCoP activities is for the purpose of connecting and building the professionalism of practising regulators and not for undertaking any form of commercial activity. Any information provided is solely for the purpose of learning and building capability in the regulatory community and should not be communicated in any public forums.
