Overview
In the ever-changing contemporary environment, public sector leaders need to design and implement innovative solutions to complex public policy and service delivery challenges. Effective public leadership also involves creating value in pursuit of public purpose. This talk explores the core principles of public sector leadership, services management and resource mobilisation in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. Dr Christopher Walker and Dr Avery Poole will explore examples of public sector leadership in the context of place-based challenges such as homelessness and drug addiction in Melbourne, and the lessons learned about integrity from the Robodebt scheme. They will explain how ANZSOG’s Executive Master of Public Administration encourages senior public servants to employ innovative approaches to tackle complex challenges while delivering value to their agencies and the communities they serve.
