Overview
Where there’s smokes – there’s fire!
Join the South Australian NRCoP Chapter in collaboration with Consumer and Business Services as they peak behind South Australia’s tobacco enforcement frontline as organised crime gangs fight to fortify their illicit trade. Consumer and Business Services will share how it adopted and adapted a new regulatory area.As tobacco store firebombings rocked interstate communities, CBS was tasked to tackle the much-anticipated tobacco war, at nail biting speed, through licensing and enforcement.
CBS navigated new relationships with health, law enforcement and border protection at state and national levels as the Commonwealth simultaneously established the world’s first Illicit Tobacco and e-Cigarette Commissioner to co-ordinate efforts.
SA’s Commissioner Brett Humphrey and team will be covering the complexities and learnings associated with simultaneous national reforms and multi-agency implications.
Law reform, data transfer, licensing and other systems were just the start. This is a great chance to ponder your peers’ practical guidance in managing this multi-agency transformation. The one constant has been change – to get ahead of the game.
**Participation in NRCoP activities is for the purpose of connecting and building the professionalism of practising regulators and not for undertaking any form of commercial activity
