ANZSOG’s CEO Forums are a unique opportunity for heads of government agencies and departments from Aotearoa New Zealand and the Australian Commonwealth, states, and territories to come together for 24 hours to discuss issues that are critical to chief executives and their organisations. Limited to ~20 places to ensure maximum opportunity for building networks and frank discussions, the chief executives will hear from a range of experts in public administration including leaders of current and former public institutions.
Discussions at the Forum will be co-shaped by what the chief executives bring to the table and there will be time and space for reflection within a format that is structured yet flexible. Importantly, the Forums are held under the Chatham House Rule and are completely confidential.

Authentic leaders generate trust and confidence. They attract and inspire followers in their own unique, beautifully idiosyncratic way. The best leaders go beyond management and technical expertise and bring their authentic selves into their leadership. The challenging environment that public sector leaders operate in can pressure leaders to hold themselves back and focus on addressing their weaknesses. But by drawing on their strengths and taking appropriate risks, they can coalesce their teams around a bold purpose, engage more effectively with their people and communities, and make the challenge of leadership more sustainable.
This forum will allow CEOs to explore:
- their individual strengths and they can be deployed to attract and inspire followers
- the challenges of leading public sector organisations authentically
- how to shift their leadership focus from ‘I’ to ‘we’ and empower others
- where to prioritise their leadership action and energy
