Lanie Chopping, the inaugural convenor of the WA chapter of the NRCoP, is the current Commissioner for Consumer Protection and Acting Executive Director, Consumer Protection in the WA Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety. Prior to being appointed to act in this role from January 2020, Lanie was the head of the Priorities Implementation Unit with the Department of Premier and Cabinet. Before joining Consumer Protection, Lanie held positions at the Economic Regulation Authority, at WACOSS and in community legal centres.
