Directory update requestAnnan is the Director, Strategic Projects at the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner Melbourne. Prior to this role, he was the inaugural Assistant Commissioner Privacy and Assurance at the Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner, where he established and now leads OVIC’s investigations and assurance functions. He oversees teams enforcing privacy, FOI and information security regulation in the Victorian public sector, and providing the Victorian community with information and assistance to exercise their privacy rights. He has worked in state and federal agencies since 2005 in legal, operational and compliance roles, and is passionate about achieving innovation and excellence in public service to better protect and support the Australian community.
Annan was a member of ANZSOG’s 2021 EMPA cohort, receiving the Dean’s Prize for highest academic performance across the core EMPA subjects, researching AI ethics and governance as part of his EMPA final project. He also holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Information Technology degree from the Australian National University, completing his honours thesis on the use of alternative dispute resolution in government-citizen disputes.
Annan is a 2023 – 2024 Alumni Ambassador & one of the Founding Committee members of ANZSOG’s VIC Alumni Chapter.
