Directory update requestRuth Williams is General Manager of the ACCC’s Strategic Communications Branch which delivers integrated communications advice and services to the agency including in media, speeches, social media, web content and design, campaigns, publishing and graphic design, employee communications and library services.
Before joining the ACCC in 2018 Ruth worked as a journalist for almost two decades, primarily in the business section of The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald, where she helped cover events including the Banking and Financial Services Royal Commission, the global financial crisis, significant corporate collapses and major mergers and acquisitions. Ruth also wrote extensively about issues like corporate governance, shareholder activism, executive remuneration, financial services, managed investment schemes and misconduct in financial advice and at various times served as Deputy Business Editor and Weekend Business Editor.
She won various awards for her journalism including as the joint winner of the National Press Club’s Financial Journalist of the Year award in 2018. She studied Communications and History at the University of Notre Dame in Fremantle and holds a Graduate Diploma in Corporations and Securities Law from Melbourne Law School.
