Nigel Chee is of Waikato and Te Ati Haunui a Pāpārangi descent and has extensive experience in health management and management consultancy. He has previously worked for the Ministry of Health, District Health Boards and PHOs, was Director and Chief Executive of a number of PHOs, and General Manager at Auckland and Waitemata District Health Boards.

He has also held various strategic planning and policy roles at the Ministry of Health and Te Puni Kōkiri. Nigel is currently acting as the Deputy Chief Executive, Change, Transformation and Monitoring for Te Aka Whai Ora. This role aligns with the skills and experience he acquired leading significant pieces of work during the last three health reforms.

Nigel has provided leadership in Māori development locally and nationally. As a result, he has an excellent understanding of inequalities as they relate to the New Zealand context. He has a good grasp of the strategies, frameworks and tools required to contribute to the improvement of the status of Māori and other vulnerable populations. Nigel uses his strengths – which include process, facilitation, and analysis – to help guide Inspiring and other people and their organisations to achieve bigger goals, greater outputs, and better results.
