Directory update requestLynda’s role as the Victorian Small Business Commissioner is an independent statutory appointment and she commenced in August 2021; and was reappointed for a further 5 years in August 2024.
Lynda is a qualified lawyer and accomplished senior executive with extensive experience working with businesses across every sector within Victoria and nationally.
Lynda has two decades of experience working as a regulator in multiple jurisdictions including the Commonwealth and Victoria and in workplace relations, building and construction and business regulation more generally.
Lynda’s roles have included:
- Executive Director, Regulatory Operations at the Victorian Building Authority
- At the Fair Work Ombudsman, she held multiple Senior Executive roles spanning the entire spectrum of regulation including Enforcement, Proactive Compliance, Education, Small Business, Advisory Services, Communication, FOI and Parliamentary Services.
- She has led a team of hundreds of workplace inspectors across 25 offices and has also been a workplace inspector herself.
In addition to advocating for small businesses, the Victorian Small Business Commission is a regulatory agency and as Commissioner and agency head, Lynda exercises statutory powers across 5 separate legislative jurisdictions ranging from retail leasing, through to businesses disputes, farming financing, owner drivers and forestry contractors, commercial passenger vehicles and franchising.
Previously, Lynda was a commercial litigator in the private practice.
Lynda is also a director of the board of The Australian Ballet School and an Ambassador for the Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation.
