Monash Pathways Program: Executive Master of Public Administration

What is the Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) Monash Pathway Program?

ANZSOG has collaborated with Monash University to establish an exciting initiative designed to improve access to the EMPA. The pathway program is intended for public servants who have a minimum of five years experience in a senior position and who do not hold an undergraduate degree.

How does the program work?

Once ANZOG’s initial approval process is complete you will be invited to apply to Monash University for entry to the Graduate Certificate of Public Policy (GCPP). In the GCPP you will complete three Monash subjects in conjunction with the fourth and final subject from the ANZOG EMPA program, Delivering Public Value (DPV). Following successful completion of the GCPP, you will transition to the EMPA (Monash) where your three Monash subjects will be recognised as electives within the EMPA program. Under this model you do not have to undertake any additional subjects to complete the EMPA as your program of study commences with a different subject progression.

Who is the EMPA Monash Pathways Program for?

The program is for public servants who have a minimum of five years experience in a senior position and who do not have an undergraduate degree. The online provision of Monash subjects means students from anywhere in Australia can be enrolled in the program.

How do we support our Pathways students?

As a member of the Monash pathway cohort, you will have access to a robust framework of support services to build and strengthen your academic study and research skills. All subjects offered by Monash in the GCPP are available online or can be accessed in face-to-face mode.

The Pathway program is led by Associate Professor Deirdre O’Neill, the Director of the GCPP, who has extensive experience in capacity building for the public sector. Monash and ANZSOG staff regularly liaise to ensure you are appropriately supported for the duration of your studies. A joint ANZSOG and Monash orientation session will be held once your enrolment is confirmed. The orientation session is designed to ensure you fully understand your course of study and the collaborative nature of the program that both institutions have established.
