Directory update requestKate Maddern is the Director of the new Victorian Disability Worker Commission. She was previously Assistant Director, Disability Worker Registration Scheme Implementation in the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services, leading an implementation team to establish two new Victorian regulators, the Disability Worker Registration Board of Victoria and the Victorian Disability Worker Commissioner, supported by a new Victorian Disability Worker Commission.
Prior to her move to DHHS she has held various positions to drive better regulatory practice. This included as Director, Public Transport Regulatory Operations, where she led reforms to improve service delivery, creating a fairer and more transparent approach to public transport ticketing compliance and enforcement in Victoria. She was also Director, Regulatory Practice in the former Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources, working collaboratively across the department and portfolio regulators to deliver better regulatory practice, including across the transport, agriculture, forestry, game hunting and environment portfolios.
Kate has over two decades professional experience in a range of senior roles in the government sector. She has an economics degree from the Australian National University and has completed ANZSOG’s managing regulation, enforcement and compliance workshop (delivered by Malcolm Sparrow).
