Directory update requestDr Daryn Bean joined the Ministry of Education in 2019 as Deputy Secretary/Hautū Te Pou Tuarongo providing leadership and support for Māori education. Previously Daryn held the role of Deputy Chief Executive Māori at the New Zealand Qualifications Authority. Daryn has extensive public sector experience at the interface of Māori development and brings high level relationship management skills, strategy and leadership development capabilities in the areas of education, international business and community development.
From Te Arawa, Daryn gained his Doctorate in Government from Victoria University of Wellington specialising in Māori leadership practice in the New Zealand public sector. He holds an Executive Master in Public Administration from ANZSOG and post-graduate degree in management and a Bachelor of Business Studies degree from Massey University.
