Andrew Davies has 20 years working in various regulators in the UK and Australia.  He trained as a UK Trading Standards Officer which regulated across many disciplines such as fair trading, weights and measures law, food and product safety.  Having moved to Australia Andrew has enjoyed stints as an investigator at NSW Fair Trading and the NSW Ombudsman’s office.   Andrew joined the NSW Food Authority in 2014 in a compliance officer role before taking the position of Manager of the Local Government Unit.

This role oversees the Food Regulation Partnership (FRP), a formal agreement between the Food Authority and other food enforcement agencies such as local councils to regulate the food retail sector in NSW.

Andrew’s work involves leading the work of the FRP to strengthen the support services provided to Food Act 2003 authorised officers to help them maximise their food surveillance activities and responsibilities.

The Scores on Doors program is a voluntary hygiene and food safety scoring program promoted by the NSW Food Authority.  Andrew will provide delegates with some insights on how the program aligns with corporate strategy and how it can benefit both consumers and food businesses.
