Aurora Project: ANZSOG seeking applicants for Indigenous internship

ANZSOG is seeking Indigenous applicants as part of the Aurora Project, which provides hands-on experience and insight into working in the Indigenous sector in Australia.

ANZSOG has registered as a host organisation and is seeking an internship placement in the Summer Round for 2019/2020.

Aurora Project internships are designed for students, near-graduates and graduates transitioning into the workforce. The internships provide career and study-based learning experience in placements that will inspire future study and work.

ANZSOG is a leader in public sector education and government-focused research and has a unique mission to create public value by lifting the quality of public sector leadership in Australia and New Zealand.

ANZSOG is committed to building strong Indigenous representation and leadership in the public sector and supporting the development of culturally competent public services.

ANZSOG, with the support of the Australian Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, has delivered a number of successful events including an Indigenous Public Servant Forum and two Indigenous Public Administration Conferences. The First Peoples team at ANZSOG also contributes to policy papers and research, including its recent submission to the Australian Public Service (APS) Review on Indigenous Values for the APS.

ANZSOG Dean and CEO Ken Smith said that the internship was a chance to gain experience with a unique organisation which combined research, education and thought leadership.

“ANZSOG is actively working to build Indigenous leadership capacity across public services, and improve the representation of First Peoples’ knowledge, wisdom and experiences in our teaching, learning and research,” he said

“During your internship you could expect to be involved across a number of ANZSOG’s organisational teams and contribute to First Peoples policy research and writing, event management, education and training activities, and strategy.”

Applications should be submitted through the Aurora Project website, which contains further information about how to apply. The internships are full-time and run from four to six weeks. Indigenous interns are eligible for scholarships to cover their daily living expenses.
