Five ANZSOG alumni have been recognised in this year’s Australia Day Honours for the quality of their work in the public sector, as well as the contributions they have made to the community over the course of their careers.

ANZSOG Dean and CEO Caron Beaton-Wells congratulated all those who received awards, saying that the Australia Day Honours recognised the often-overlooked work of public servants in developing and implementing policies that raised the quality of life of all Australians.

“The demands on the public sector are increasing and the essential work it does is often under-appreciated, so it’s gratifying to see the contributions of public servants, including our alumni, receive the credit they deserve,” she said.

  • Stacey Campton, who completed ANZSOG’s Towards Strategic Leadership program in 2009, was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her services to netball and the Indigenous community.

In addition, Public Service Medals (PSMs) were awarded to the following alumni for their service:

  • Berindah Aicken (Executive Master of Public Administration 2023), NSW Corrective Services, was recognised for her outstanding public service to NSW Corrective Services.
  • Lisa Jackson (Towards Strategic Leadership 2019), Emergency Management Victoria, was recognised for her outstanding public service in the field of emergency management.
  • Mark Johnstone (Executive Master of Public Administration 2008), Victorian Department of Treasury and Finance, was recognised for his outstanding public service in financial policy and economic reform.
  • David Mackie, (China Reciprocal Program 2018) Queensland Public Sector Commissioner, was recognised for his outstanding service to public sector administration and policy reform in Queensland. Mr Mackie has also been recently appointed to the ANZSOG Board.
