Six ANZSOG alumni, and one ANZSOG Fellow, have been recognised in this year’s King’s Birthday Honours lists in Australia for their careers of service to the public sector and community.
ANZSOG Dean and CEO Professor Caron Beaton-Wells congratulated all those who received awards, saying she took great pleasure in seeing the work of ANZSOG alumni recognised, at a time of growing uncertainty and demands on the public sector.
“The challenges to the public sector of recent years are being exacerbated by global geopolitical shifts, social fragmentation and a decline in trust,” she said.
“In this environment, the essential work of the public sector in maintaining a safe, stable and predictable democracy is too often under-recognised. It’s gratifying to see so many public servants acknowledged for serving the community across a range of fields.”
ANZSOG Fellow Rachel Hunter was awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for her distinguished service to public administration, to tertiary education governance, and to the community of Queensland, across a decorated career which includes being Deputy-Chancellor of Griffith University and Director-General of Queensland’s Department of Premier and Cabinet.
The following ANZSOG alumni were awarded Public Service Medals (PSMs)recognising their outstanding service to the community. Only 100 PSMs are awarded each year, and ten of the 2025 recipients are ANZSOG alumni.
