Profile

Simon Cooper is the co-author of ‘Are we there yet? The Digital Transformation of government and the public service in Australia’ (Longueville Media, 2019).

He is a digital transformation in government specialist with 15+ years of experience as a Consultant and Public Servant delivering joyful customer experiences, strategy driven and digital transformation with 45+ government agencies around the world.

Simon joined the UK Civil Service on the Fast Stream completing postings in criminal justice policy, counterterrorism and immigration operations. He went on to lead an operational command covering Europe and the Middle East, operations for the London 2012 Olympics, work in the Home Secretary’s Delivery Unit and stints as a Private Secretary for Minister’s. Before moving to Australia he set up and led a Digital and Data Analytics team where he won an Innovation Award from the Cabinet Secretary and worked closely with the Government Digital Service.

Today, Simon leads on digital transformation for Deloitte Digital focused on the NSW government and with experience across Australia. Simon specialises in customer focused strategy, experience design and conversational AI working with organisations across Australia. Those include the NSW Department of Customer Service, Service NSW, NSW Public Service Commission, Treasury, NSW Department of Planning, Industry & Environment, Digital Transformation Agency, Tourism Australia, CSIRO, Home Affairs and the Australian Digital Health Agency.

Simon holds an Executive MBA with distinction from City Business School, London where he specialised in digital strategy and was a scholarship student. He also holds a BA (Hons) in History & Politics from the University of Warwick, is a graduate of the UK’s National School of Government and has various project, program & risk management, agile, leadership and AI related qualifications.
