Mary Ann O’Loughlin is a senior advisor to ANZSOG in the Research and Advisory team. She is also a Senior Adviser with the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability, and recently worked on the Royal Commission on Aged Care Quality and Safety.

Mary Ann has had a significant career in public policy and administration, working as a Deputy Secretary for both the Australian Public Service and NSW government, and for prime minister Paul Keating as Senior Adviser on Social Policy. She has expertise in complex social policy and Commonwealth-State government financial arrangements. She has participated in major policy reform in the areas of education and training; heath; aged care; disability (NDIS); and children’s services.

Mary Ann is a member of the Research and Policy Committee of the Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA) and chairs CEDA’s Membership Advisory Council on Human Services. She is a National Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration Australia and was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to public administration and policy.
