Christopher (Chris) De Luis is General Manager Office of the Space Regulator and a member of the Australian Space Agency Executive. He leads a team responsible for safety assurance and national security oversight of the rapidly growing Australian civil space sector.

This includes space ports, orbital and sub-orbital launch and returns. The role works closely across international and domestic jurisdictions including the States and Territories. Chris also has responsibility for implementing the Australian Government’s obligations under the United Nations space treaties.

Chris is an experienced leader and manager in complex technical environments.

Before joining the Australian Space Agency Chris was Head of Airworthiness Engineering at the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) where he was responsible for airworthiness standards and assurance of the design, certification and production industry.

Prior to this Chris worked as a civilian aerospace engineer in acquisition and sustainment of military aircraft for the Royal Australian Air Force and the Department of Defence in various roles across Australia.

Chris earned a Master of Business Administration from Melbourne Business School, Master of Government and Commercial Law from the Australian National University and Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering with First Class Honours from the University of New South Wales.

Chris is a Chartered Professional Engineer and Fellow of Engineers Australia.
