Directory update requestBritt Ryan is the head of Technology Security Policy Branch within the Department of Home Affairs, which leads whole-of-Government security policy on critical and emerging technologies (including artificial intelligence), technology supply chains and data. This work is undertaken in close consultation with industry, international partners and broader Government stakeholders.
Prior to this, Britt was Senior Director of All Hazards Resilience Branch within Home Affairs, which led lines of effort relating to climate security, emergency management and crisis strategy.
Britt has significant experience in law enforcement, national security, criminal justice and border policy across Home Affairs, the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission and the Attorney-General’s Department. Through these roles, Britt worked closely with operational agencies to deliver a range of policy initiatives that support frontline officers, including legislative reforms to strengthen identity-checking powers at airports, and has represented law enforcement interests on issues relating to press freedoms, illicit drugs, technical capability and witness protection.
Britt commenced in the Australian Public Service as a graduate in the Attorney-General’s Department.
